New Hythe is a fantastic area for birds, there is a link on this page to download a list of all of the birds seen in the area.

New Hythe is one of the best inland sites in Kent for birds. Each year well over 100 species are seen. Specialities include wintering Bittern, a high density of Nightingale and Cettis Warbler.

 Nightingale

Every year rare or scarce birds turn up or pass through. In recent years we have seen Marsh Warbler, Penduline Tit, Osprey, Waxwing, Firecrest and Spoonbill. Going back many years the site has held the first (and only) Golden Winged Warbler seen in the Western Paleartic, Great Grey Shrike and Iceland Gull. The truth is, as with most places, anything can turn up.

Below is a complete list of the birds seen in the area. If you know of a bird seen but not in the list.
